Deer hunting season is in full force where this shot was taken in far Northern California. But these guys seem to know that they are protected here in the Lava Beds National Monument. They are taking a stroll to Tule Lake, which just so happens to be another protected refuge. A wrong turn to the adjacent farmland could have sealed their fate. But out here at dusk in this high desert "wasteland" things are pretty peaceful ... Except for this half crazed photographer type and his friend ...
